4 Indicators You Might Need Dental Implants

Most people are more image-conscious and do everything they can to create a great first impression. Generally, everyone wants to look good for their careers, business, dating scenes, and self-esteem. But unfortunately, dental gaps can affect your appearance and might cause other dental health problems down the road. For example, one missing tooth could gradually lead to more teeth falling out, adversely affecting your quality of life.

Fortunately, modern dentistry provides dental implants, which is a viable solution to this problem. If you are interested in this treatment but aren't sure if you are the perfect candidate for implants, here are a few signs to examine.

1. You Have a Sunken Facial Structure After Teeth Loss

A sunken-in face is a major sign that you are suffering from severe jawbone loss. It is common among patients using dentures and those with lost teeth. Unknown to most people, teeth roots stimulate bone growth. Consequently, healthy bone mass supports the muscles and tissues to keep your face looking young and attractive.

Bridges and teeth gaps don't encourage bone stimulation. So over time, your face might appear sunken as the bone underneath continues to resorb. However, implants are like your teeth and help stimulate bone growth. As a result, you are more likely to maintain the youthful appearance you need.

2. You Have Chipped or Weak Teeth

Severely chipped teeth that cannot be saved by other treatments such as veneers and crowns may need to be extracted and replaced. You are eligible for implants after losing your teeth physical trauma, decay, or dental diseases.

This modern solution allows you to eat, talk, and smile as you normally would with regular teeth. The implants are also designed to look natural and offer stability, just like real teeth.

3. You Are Not Comfortable With Dentures

Your bridges and dentures might serve you well for the first few years. However, when they become loose and cause discomfort. Patients wearing ill-fitting dentures often complain of embarrassing moments where the appliances fall out when talking or chewing food. You could be forced to change your diet to avoid discomfort. This is a good reason to seek dental implants. They are anchored deep into your jawbone for comfort and stability.

4. Severe Dental Infections

Periodontal diseases, gum recession, and tooth decay all cause tooth loss. If the damage is already done, and you need teeth replacement options to save your smile, you should consider investing in implants. However, your dentist will ensure that you are healed from the infections before they begin to work on your teeth. You might need bone and gum grafts if the infection is severe.

Do you resonate with any of the signs discussed above? You are an ideal candidate for dental implants if you relate to any of these pointers. Book an appointment with the dentist to start your journey to a great smile. Reach out to a local dental clinic to learn more about dental implants.

About Me

Every Dentist Needs Your Help Keeping Your Teeth Healthy

When I was a child and teenager, I always left the dentist's office with the great feeling of having no cavities. When I went away to college out-of-state, I had to switch to a new dentist in my area. It seemed like I was suddenly getting cavities and started wonder what my new dentist "was doing wrong". When I spoke to my mother about it, she reminded me that the reason I never had cavities when I was living it home was because she always made sure my siblings and I brushed and flossed daily and didn't eat too much sugar. I then realized that my late-night study sessions drinking sugary soda and my suddenly bad brushing habits were the true causes of my cavities. I have since learned a lot more about dental health I am eager to share with anyone who needs the advice!
